Tamara Driessen, Wolf Sister at Gazelli House South Kensington

We’re excited to be welcoming Tamara Driessen, also known as Wolf Sister, to Gazelli House on 10 October for a Moon Masterclass – a session where you’ll learn about how the moon influences us and how to align with its energy. You’ll also discover how to create your own lunar rituals for self-care and manifestation. Tamara’s aim is to help you to figure out what you really want… and to get it. Tamara believes that modern mysticism doesn’t need to be as mysterious as you think. “The answers that you’re looking for are inside you,” explains Tamara. “It’s that thing that everyone keeps talking about – your intuition. It’s your highest intelligence. You’ve just spent your whole life ignoring your intuition in favour of listening to what others have to say. The result? You don’t know what you want.” Sounds familiar? We caught up with Tamara to find out more…

How do you describe what you do?

I'm a crystal healer, tarot reader, reiki master and author of The Crystal Code. I work with clients one-to-one doing tarot readings and healing sessions, lead Moon ceremonies, teach reiki and other mystical workshops. The work I do is all about demystifying these spiritual practices so we can use them to rise above the frenetic pace of modern life, to find connection and clarity when we need it most.

How did you discover your love of crystals?

It began with a chunk of Rose Quartz from the Natural History Museum – I think I must have been about eight years old. I always kept it by my bed but it wasn't until I was a teenager that I realised that crystals had any kind of powers. I'd read in a teen magazine that you could use them for different purposes and the thing that really caught my interest was the part that recommended crystals to get a boyfriend, which was a big deal to twelve-year-old me. I followed the advice, got myself a garnet ring and it worked! A boy in my class asked me out a couple of weeks later and I've been using crystals for manifesting and support ever since.

Tell us more about your book The Crystal Code.

The Crystal Code is the book that I wish I'd had when I began my journey with crystals. It explains how crystals work and how to get the most from them. Crystals are like cosmic life coaches – each has its own advice to offer. So rather than just explain a crystal’s generic properties, I describe ways to think more like that crystal so you can really bring its energy into your life. There are rituals and crystal healing meditations so you can make your own magic happen. I also suggest using the book as an oracle – hold it in your hands and ask, “What crystal will support me today?” Then open it at random to see which crystal you land on. It's all about creating your own relationship with crystals and learning how to trust your own intuition.

What are your favourite crystals?

I'm drawn to different crystals all the time because the particular thing I need support with changes. There have been quite a few crystals that have given me breakthroughs so it's hard to have favourites. I'm currently hanging out with Black Moonstone – its energy is really grounding and can support with cultivating positive boundaries so you can focus on what you need. I usually work with one, or perhaps a few, crystals as part of my daily practice: I meditate with it in the morning, keep it close by during the day and sleep with it under my pillow.

Tell us more about the Moon Masterclass you are hosting at Gazelli House on 10 October.

During the session I’ll explain how phases of the moon influence us and how we can align with them to find more balance in our lives and harness the power for manifestation through rituals. You'll learn some practices that you can use to develop a deeper connection with the moon and how to live more intuitively. I can't wait to share these transformative tools at Gazelli House!

How do you look after your own wellbeing?

I've been very familiar with burnout and have recognised the hard way the importance of making self-care non-negotiable. So meditation and journaling are two of my (almost) daily rituals – my head is so much clearer and I find that everything flows better when I make time for these practices. Salt baths with crystals really help me to clear my energy so they happen regularly too. Massages, sound baths and breathwork are a few of the ways I like to recharge.

Tell us about your typical day before 9am.

A lot of my work happens in the evenings, whether it's an event, working with clients or writing (that's when the words come together for me). I'm a night owl so my mornings often start later than everyone else’s. I usually wake up without an alarm clock (about 8.30-9am) unless I've got to be somewhere early. I always start my day sipping a cup of hot water with a slice of lemon, then I'll meditate and do some journaling before I dive into everything else.

What mantra do you live by?
