Summer Body Confidence Tips from Body Expert Ilona Major
Body Expert, Ilona, has been a welcome addition to our team at Gazelli House, our wellness space in Chelsea. Ilona has over twenty years of experience as a body expert and massage therapist. “The Gazelli approach of really making time to understand the client’s needs before creating a completely bespoke treatment immediately resonated with me,” she says. “I always take a holistic approach to treatments, so It felt like arriving home.” Ilona empathetically tunes into each person’s aches and pains to tailor their treatment to achieve optimum results. “The in-depth Diagnostic Consultation helps us to get a better understanding of our client’s needs on all levels. I find that working with the other exceptional therapists and experts at Gazelli London means that together we can really make a difference to our client’s wellbeing.”
With the summer equinox almost here, we asked Ilona for her tips to help us all to feel body-confident this summer:
1. Scrub up
It’s common to have a multi-stage routine for looking after the skin on your face, but when it comes to our body we expect to achieve a “wow” effect with just one lotion. Your bodycare routine need not be complicated but should include regular exfoliation to remove dead skin cells, release excess toxins and allow the skin to breathe. I love Aroma Collection’s A Thousand Charms Body Scrub with persimmon, which has been traditionally used in Japan for its purifying benefits.
2. Brush up
Dry skin brushing is another way to remove dead skin cells and improve the skin’s tone – you can discover our guide to choosing the right brush and how to do it right here.
After exfoliation your skin absorbs active ingredients more effectively, so apply a lightweight but hydrating body lotion such as Aroma Collection’s Goddess Glow Body Cream to leave your skin smooth, moisturised and with a luxurious glow.
4. Knees and elbows
Both can be prone to summer dryness, so massage a few drops of your favourite face oil or serum to nourish, repair and protect before following with your regular body cream. I love Gazelli’s award-winning Ultimate Firming Serum with Gazelli White Oil.
5. Sun safe
Five to fifteen minutes of sunlight on your arms, hands and face two to three times a week is enough to enjoy the vitamin D-boosting benefits and lift your mood by increasing the release of feel-good hormone serotonin. Always wear a good-quality sunscreen and avoid the sun when it’s at its strongest between 11am and 3pm.
Carry a mist in your handbag. Gazelli Hydra Radiance Face Mist is hydrating and gives the skin an instant glow – spritz it onto your face, décolleté, arms and legs. It also helps provide a protective barrier against pollution.
7. Summer eating
Your skin is your body’s largest organ so it’s affected by what you eat. Choose cooling foods and spices such as mint, turmeric and coconut and avoid fried, hot and spicy foods. Summer fruit and vegetables such as watermelon, blueberries, strawberries, apricots, peaches and grapes are some of my favourites.
8. Pure water
Make sure you stay hydrated. Clean water is vital for the body to function – from digestion to waste removal. Charcoal filters work well for home use to remove toxins, chlorine and unhealthy organic compounds while allowing most minerals to remain in the water.
9. Skin tight
At Gazelli House London we offer the best non-invasive treatment available to tighten the skin and reduce the appearance of cellulite and stretch marks. Our radiofrequency with vacuum suction tightens skin and helps aid drainage and elimination.
10. Body balance
If you’re time poor and want fast results, the Body Ballancer, based on age-old lymphatic massage, has just been introduced at Gazelli House. A course of treatments can have long-term benefits including reducing cellulite, improving lymphatic health and helping the gut.
